No, this arrangement did not kill a man, go on a crazy road trip or sleep with Brad Pitt. However, it was enjoyed by Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis at the 10 year anniversary of the film. What an exciting day! Hiding in this desert piece are Thistle, Hosta Leaves, Succulents, Air Plants and more!

The Wedding Details

I finally have the photos of the rest of the wedding. I thought I would share some of the photos of centerpieces, boutonnieres and standards that were not shown in my previous post of this wedding. Still loving how unique this wedding was with the bright orange, navy blue and chartreuse green.

Good Ol' Pal Dusty Miller

I LOVE you! You are so soft, delicate and add the perfect tone of grey to any palette especially pale pinks and peaches. I love it so much I have planted it by the bounty in every container on my balcony. It is like a cashmere sweater or as if someone made a web of cotton on a lovely shaped leaf. Truely divine! My only complaint is that it smells exactly how it's name sounds.. Dusty and swampy. Oh well, just mask it with a peony or two and your good to go.

Pot or Vase?

It is a lovely, exciting alternative to use pots as vases. Here are just some of the pros to using a pot instead of a vase:

•  They provide such a variety of color and texture to break you away from plain clear glass. 
• They are usually cheaper than vases.
• Once the flowers have lived their life, the pot can then be a permanent fixture in the house accompanied by a plant.
• The water will never look murky because they aren't see-through. (although you should still change the water of your flowers every couple of days to ensure they live their longest)

Let's spice things up and take advantage of all the lovely little pots out there.

Dear, Lilac & Peonies...

...I am so glad you are friends! You come into season at the exact same time, look stunning together (always) and combined are so fragrant it makes my heart skip a beat. Long live these couple of weeks where I get to enjoy their presence, use them in almost everything and utilize how cost effective they are.  So, here is to my favorite few weeks of the year!

Thistle? Sea Holly? Jackpot? Beautiful Blue Stuff?

Call it what you would like but it is exquisite. This little flower usually has about three massive blooms and will last you at least 2 weeks. After it's time has past it will dry up beautifully and live forever (might get a little dusty though.) It will always give any bouquet a stunning wildflower/meadowy look. Perfect for all of the garden girls in your life. 

Yummy Mummies!

Holy cow it is finally over. These past three days were the busiest in Sweetpea's history. I'm talking busier than Valentine's Day ( by like 10 times .) It was an absolute gong show but it was fabulous! Holidays aren't holidays without working in a flower shop anymore. They are so much fun and you get to make so many lovely things (non-stop). The flower of the weekend was definitely Peonies. I'm talking  going through 300 Peonies in 3 days... Ya I know right? I jokingly say to my single female friends that if they want to meet some big sweeties to come take a gander in a flower shop on Mother's Day. These are men that are buying flowers for their mummies and grandmas (top quality men if you ask me.) Nonetheless, this weekend is going down in history for the busiest flower shop I have ever worked during my 5 year career as a florist. 

Steering The Ship

We have had a crazy busy week at the shop and I have been all alone. The other floral designer was on holiday and the owner was doing landscaping quotes so it was just little old me in the store. Let me tell you I certainly learned a lot about myself and about responsibility in general. I also was reminded of how sweet my boyfriend is for putting up with me being so mental and stressed out. I adore being busy but sometimes it is a lot for one little florist on her own. Thank goodness Molly (the other designer) is back she is amazing and things are finally under control again. I managed to get one picture of an arrangement in though! Hope you like it.

LandscapeTablescape

Not quite sure who the florist is but isn't this tablescape something else? I adore the huge white antique vases filled with a mass of the same flower. The foliage (boxwood I think?) that nestles the vases just make you feel like you are almost having a picnic. The venue is also quite fabulous as well. All in all I was definitely inspired. Behold Some Bouquets

I know it's been a while since I've posted pictures of arrangements/bouquets but it has just been so busy at the shop. I swear I am making about a hundred bouquets per weekend and I seriously do not stop designing for 8 hours straight. There is just no time to take pictures of my work before it goes out the door. The good new is that I adore making as many bouquets as I do and I am so thrilled to be as busy as I am, it is just so much fun. I may never be rich but I absolutely love what I do and I wouldn't trade it for anything. So here's to a million bouquets to come and decades of working hard in my interesting little industry.

It's a shame the Lily is missing one of it's petals I cannot stop staring at it but I just had to show you this colour palette.

I don't quite know how I feel about this arrangement. The Hydrangeas are too symmetrical and grocery store bouquets have ruined Lilies for me. However, I do like the shape and still think it is pretty.

New Glass Love

I'm super excited about these new picnic cups that just came in they are to die for! Who says you should drink out of a cup instaid of sticking flowers in them? I have three reasons why I fell so deeply in love with them:
1) They are made out of 100% recycled glass and have a beautiful stamp to show it
2) The have a blue-ish tint to them which reminds me of my apothacary vases and other antique glass
3) Their size is absolutly perfect for posies which are always a delight to make.
I am so lucky that Sweetpea's ordered 100 of them! Lets just say I will be using them as much as I possibly can for as long as I can. To bad I'm not getting married soon they would be a perfect vessel for my multi-vased centerpieces and they are cheap to boot!

Getting Rosie From All of The Posies

Ever since I first started designing I used to always love making miniature arrangements. With popular demand I now make dozens a day! A lot of the time men will come in to get a big bouquet for mom and a sweet posie for their little girl ( how sweet I know.)Sometimes the posies are on their own so that you can place them in your own vessel and other times I do them up in Hyacinth vases (which look like little curvy mason jars.) Enjoy!
