Mason Jar Chandeliers

I know right? Mason jars can be used for absolutely anything. I am now super excited to maybe even attempt to make my own mason jar chandelier. The only problem is that the last time I tried to do something similar the lightbulbs where just too bright on their own but maybe this just calls for a second attempt with a dimmer bulb. All I know is that I am definitely inspired.

Not quite sure who the florist is but isn't this tablescape something else? I adore the huge white antique vases filled with a mass of the same flower. The foliage (boxwood I think?) that nestles the vases just make you feel like you are almost having a picnic. The venue is also quite fabulous as well. All in all I was definitely inspired. Finally Some Antiquen'

Let's just say I will always have time for shopping. I have been extremely lucky lately with finding antiques at The Sally Anne. People keep giving away their collectibles without knowing what they are worth. Let me just say that I don't mind at all and that it has been a lot cheaper than shopping at antique stores. Now don't get me wrong, I adore supporting the quirky little antique shops but what I like it even more is helping to feed and clothe the less fortunate. Either way buying used goods is extremely beneficial no matter where you buy them.

Green Fabric

I know it might seem kind of weird but have you ever gone to Value Village and looked at their bed sheets? I honestly have found dozens of beautiful floral prints and when you consider the fact that you are getting five or so yards for two dollars it is such a steal! Not to mention that it is an extremely eco-friendly way to go about sewing. Here are some of my "Sash Pillows" that I have made in order to make my living room a little more cozy. Thankfully, my sweetie bought me a sewing machine for my birthday so I no longer have to sew everything by hand.

Finally A Victorian Portrait

About four months ago I went on this hugh creative bender where I bought a whole set of oil paints, stretcher bars, canvas pliers, a staple gun and a bunch of vintage fabric in order to start this project. That week I stretched my own canvas, put on a layer of clear gesso and began sketching out this victorian portrait of an actress from a silent film (don't ask her name because I forgot to write it down.) I literally finished half of the painting and then left it for the past four months. Last week my mom and I were hanging all of my pictures in my new bedroom and she "accidently" put a huge drywall plug where this portrait was supposed to hang. Therefore, everyday I had to stare at this ugly plug which nearly forced me to finish the painting. Yesterday morning my sweetie and I went to the AGO to take a look at the exhibit on India's Royal Courts. I must say it totally blew me away and I recommend that everyone should go see it before it is gone. Nonetheless, I have never been so inspired to paint as I was that day so I took my little butt home and painted for seven hours straight! I am quite pleased with the outcome. I know that I am no Mucha but I am satisfied with my efforts.

 

Apothecary Bottles

I have long since began my collection of antique apothecary bottles and I am finally somewhat sufficed with my collection...that is of course until I begin collecting them for my wedding centerpieces.

I must of course tell you the story behind these particular bottles. I bought most of them at an antique shop on Queen right before Roncey. Before I bought them the owner of the store told me how he and his friend went to an abandoned train station and began to dig. They soon began to discover hundreds of apothecary bottles dating back to 1848. Shortly after digging they both broke out from head to to in rashes and had to go to the emergency room straight away. I assume it was some of the medicines fermenting? Who knows... all I know is that I am so grateful they were found and that I get to enjoy them.

D.I.Y Brides

I found a gorgeous wedding this week on Sloan Photographers. This bride set out to make everything she possibly could herself which is exactly what my intentions are when I get married. I plan on spending months and months hand making everything from invitations to favors. I think weddings are supposed to represent you as a couple and/or person and what better way to do it than by hand making everything? Kudos to this bride for her amazing taste and dedication.

Teapots everywhere, how fabulous! Not to mention that everyone drank from mason jars.

I could just picture the bride hand picking each one of these antique china dishes over the course of years in order to use them as her favors.

Tea pot arrangements and arrangements raised on books have definitely been in my wedding inspiration book for quite some time.

This is not your average collage, this is something truly unique. With dozens of frames of wedding certificates and wedding pictures of relatives hanging from barn board, this piece is phenomenal.

Antique Cycling

As an avid cyclist (still riding in the snow) and an antique hunter I was blown away by this amazing find. This stunning cruiser was made out of bamboo from top to bottom from the chain guard to the fenders to the woven bamboo seat. It was just stunning! How nice it is to simply walk to the end of my street and be able to go antiquen' untill I drop. Oh do I love Parkdale!
