More Planting On Roncey!

It was a beautiful twenty some-odd degrees and there I was on the curbside amidst all of the construction doing up dozens upon dozens of little gardens. It was lovely being in the sun, getting to talk to everyone on the street, answering questions and making custom plantings. Summer here I am, all dressed in my floral apron and new lovely green gardening gloves!

Little Gardens

I have been making a lot of these little planters for mother's day this weekend. Aren't they sweet? I love feeling like I'm designing this mini garden and how it is a great alternative to a cut flower arrangement. They are lovely to enjoy in the house for about a month but would be much happier on a sunny patio table. I have also been doing quite a few urn consultations lately in order to bring gardens to condo balconies. I'm so excited to work in the sun and look over the lake while I plant them. Keep checking in I shall have lots of photos of my container gardening soon.

Not quite sure who the florist is but isn't this tablescape something else? I adore the huge white antique vases filled with a mass of the same flower. The foliage (boxwood I think?) that nestles the vases just make you feel like you are almost having a picnic. The venue is also quite fabulous as well. All in all I was definitely inspired. National Post & Sweetpea's

I couldn't believe the good news I received today! Sweetpea's has been mentioned in the National Post. I know right?! We were all ecstatic when we heard. I am so happy to be a part of a company that is growing so quickly it feels amazing.

English Country Garden: Tres Chic or Too Much?

I was ecstatic when this order came in. With the only instructions at hand to make it "English Country Garden" and to use my favorite crackled pot I was ready to go. I must say it brought me back to my East of Eliza days because without working there I must say I would have had no idea what color palette it was. English country garden is anything and everything meadowy meets shabby chic. Personally we all know I love a tone-on-tone palette but this one I still have a soft spot for. Ranging from pastel yellows, to muted blues, to lavender purples and to pale pinks it is anything but tone-on-tone but still gives off a pleasing vibe. What do you think?

            

Sadly, Some Go

One of the most important things about being a florist is that you are a part of every major occasion in one's life. Whether it is a birth, wedding, birthday, celebration or sadly even death, flowers are usually part of the equation.  Being a good florist is about creating a piece that says something about who the client is and this ability is particularly important when it comes to creating a piece to remember one's life.

This piece in particular was for a gardener. 

Such a Privilege...

I always took for granted the abundance of unique flowers I have had such a privilege of working with on a daily basis. Designing really is much easier and fascinating when you have absolutely every color of flower available at your finger tips. Not to mention that during garden season I was free to wander in the secret garden to pick some wild and unique blooms you would never be able to find at market. 

Defiantly my favorite fall palette which includes rosy sedum and blush hydrangea which I was able to salvage from the garden center in early fall.

This arrangement is just bursting with little floral wonders! The roses are all fantastically fragrant garden roses and the snowberries are blushed perfectly. 

This was actually a bridal bouquet for a very "woodsy" couple. Her husband to be literally went out in the fields to hand pick buckets of fresh Queen Anne's Lace. However i must say, my favorite part of this bouquet would have to be the Foxglove which I had hand picked from the garden center. What a magnificent spotted beauty!

Baby Boy!

A sweet little vase arrangement that I got to make up for a new mummy who has a new little boy. The soft blur Delphinium create such lovely line and give this arrangement a gardeny' feel.

Missing Garden Season

I must admit that the hauling of flat after flat, the 9 hour days of solely watering plants and the constant deadheading seemed so overwhelming at first. Now that winter has really hit us I cannot help but to look back and think of how nice it was to spend so much time outside with thousands of unique plants, butterflies and insects all around me. What better way to spend a summer? But now all I am left with are these warm thoughts as I put on my winter coat and Sorels and dread the long cold winter that awaits.
